Bengaluru turned into an EV festival as Ather Energy’s Community Day 2025 showcased the brand’s bold roadmap for the future. From an all-new scalable EV platform and two radical concepts, to smarter software updates and charging breakthroughs, Ather proved it’s not just making scooters—it’s reshaping the entire Indian EV experience.
Smarter Scooters: AtherStack 7.0
Ather unveiled AtherStack 7.0, its biggest OTA software upgrade yet. Highlights include:
- Voice interaction powered by a large language model (LLM) tuned to Indian accents.
- Crash Alerts that notify emergency contacts with live location.
- Pothole Alerts drawing on fleet-wide data to warn riders ahead of rough patches.
- ParkSafe and LockSafe, which add new layers of security.
- Remote controls via app—owners can stop charging or even shut down the scooter remotely.
Stack 7.0 also introduces Infinite Cruise, now tuned for Indian roads with:
- CityCruise – adapts to braking/speed changes without disengaging.
- Hill Control – manages torque uphill, regenerative braking downhill.
- Crawl Control – maintains a steady 10 km/h on rough or crowded roads, paired with multi-mode traction control.
Best part? This update is backward-compatible with the Rizta Z, 450X (up to Gen 3), and 2025 450 Apex.
The EL Platform – Ather’s Next Leap

At the heart of Community Day was the debut of the EL platform—Ather’s first new scooter architecture since the 450 series.
Key highlights:
- Developed using 26 lakh km of real-world data.
- Unibody steel chassis for strength, cost savings, and reduced complexity.
- 15% quicker assembly time, doubling service intervals to 10,000 km.
- Swingarm-mounted motor replacing the old belt drive.
- Hardware includes front disc brake, monoshock rear, and a center stand.
- Production will happen at Ather’s new Factory 3.0 in Aurangabad.
Ather previewed three scooter types on this platform:
- Maxi-scooter with 14-inch wheels and a 5 kWh battery.
- Sporty scooter with a compact 2 kWh battery and 12-inch wheels.
- Family-oriented scooter with wide seat, longer wheelbase, plusher suspension, and support for rider assistance systems.
The first production model is expected around the festive season next year.
Concepts on Display – EL01 & Redux
EL01 Concept: A proof-of-concept scooter showcasing the EL platform’s potential. It integrates the Charge Drive Controller (combines charger + motor controller in one unit), freeing up boot space and eliminating the need for portable chargers.
Redux Concept: A radical “moto-scooter” experiment. Built with a lightweight aluminium frame, 3D-printed lattice seat, and AmplyTex body panels, Redux features adaptive ride dynamics, adjustable ergonomics, and Morph-UI—a dynamic display that changes based on riding context. Ather describes Redux as an exploration of responsiveness and rider engagement—a design lab on two wheels.
Rizta Updates
The family-friendly Rizta Z wasn’t left out. It now gets:
- OTA update unlocking the touchscreen dashboard already present in its hardware.
- Refreshed interface plus a new Eco Mode for efficiency.
- A brand-new Terracotta Red colour option, available in both single-tone and dual-tone.
- Pricing: ₹1.05 lakh (Rizta S) and ₹1.30 lakh (Rizta Z).
Hardware Innovations
- AEBS (Advanced Electronic Braking System): Improves braking distances and reduces rear-wheel lockups. While not ABS, it’s designed to coexist with ABS in future models.
- Charge Drive Controller: Integrates charger and motor controller into one compact unit, freeing up boot space.
- Next-Gen Fast Charging: A compact 6 kW charger that’s half the size of the old one but twice as fast, adding 30 km in just 10 minutes. Select units will even include tyre inflators.
Pros & Cons
Why it stood out:
- New EL platform makes Ather scalable and future-proof.
- AtherStack 7.0 + Infinite Cruise improve safety and everyday usability.
- Concepts like Redux show bold design thinking.
- Faster charging and smart braking address real rider needs.
What’s worth watching:
- EL01 and Redux are still concepts; timelines for real production matter.
- No pricing revealed yet for EL-based scooters.
- Execution—especially scaling Factory 3.0—will decide how soon these promises hit the road.
Motors77 Verdict
Ather Community Day 2025 was less about “what’s next quarter” and more about what EV mobility will look like in the next decade. The EL platform, smart updates, and radical concepts show that Ather wants to lead—not follow—the Indian EV market. If the production models stay true to this vision, Ather could very well set the standard for EV scooters worldwide.
